I've designed myself a computer system which i intend to use for new games and media applications...

The shop i went to didn't have graphics cards in stock so they told me to wait, meanwhile i've heard about the new radeon 9800 series which is just around the corner...

yesterday they received a new shipment of radeon 9700 pro cards and i wanted to ask you if i should wait for the new series until it gets to where i live or should i buy the radeon 9700 card now ?

Well..I would say just buy Radeon9700 card
9800 will cost more than 9700
so, it depends on your budget and your patience
keep in mind that certainly 9800 is better, but it doesn't beat that much, BUT, if you wish your system to last longer, then get the Best card, 9800

You can get a R9700 Pro for $299USD at BestBuy, which is cheaper than getting it from newegg or googlegear. The R9800 Pro will be $399, so $100 more, and not worth it.

9700s are coming down in price to clear room for the 9800s. Save the money and get one. People are having great success with running the 9800 drivers on the 9700.

I just went throuhg the same thing. :) (last week)

After seeing the benchmark of the 9800 pro (not that much faster than the 9700 pro) I decided to go for the 9700 pro.
Plus there was a good deal on the 9700 pro at Future Shop -150.00$ CAN.

Now if I can just get it to work...(see previous article)

Maiden's gonna get y'a!

Well depends on how much the price will differ where you live. You decide yourself.
The 9800pro is clocked at 380/340. But it has also been tested with a clock to clock comparison vs 9700pro and it averages 10% better at same clock!
Then the 9800pro has some room gor guaranteed overclocking as well. At least 400/350, i don't dare say much more from what i've read. Most review sites have gone beyond that with ease. But i say 400/350 as an almost guaranteed minimum overclock.
So depending on price difference and time you decide

Yeah, that R9700 Pro for $500 was pretty good. I would've gotten it if I didn't already have my R9700...

I find that VERY doubtful. Right now, the Radeon 9700 Pro on their website is going for $649.99, a shade more than $150. Even if it was a Boxing Day special, which wouldn't have happened last week, it would not have been that cheap. Seriously, what card did you buy. It's not a 9700 Pro, I'm sure. I't most likely the 9000 Pro.

hhhmmmm, ;) I would be realy stupid to buy a Radeon 9000 pro for 500,00$ CAN. Seriously, I have my bill i my hand and I purchased a Radeon 9700 pro for 499,99$ march 3rd, 2003. The sale lasted one week. ;)

Unless I'm a spaz, your post says "150.00$", nothing else. I don't see $500 there at all. That's what I was posting against, the 150, not the 500. I can belive 500. I might have taken it if I saw it. Ah well....

Ahhh.. he said -$150.. I guess it wasn't clear he meant -$150 from $650. But it's all good. a R9700 Pro for $500 is a pretty good deal.
