You can get the IP address then do a WHOIS on the IP address to locate his/her's original domain and ISP. You can track an IP address all the way to a home- but most people can't do that. =)

Hmm let me put my expertise to work here..... *rubbing temples while reciting ritual hum*......... I recommend emailing them and asking!

Seriously, you can trace their IP with certain programs. But if you want their password there is a hack you can do. I forget though. something like email system@hotmail.com with their email adress and it replies to you with their password or something. I don't remember.......

Reply to Grizely1

how do you get their ip address just from the email address? Especially if they are not currently online?

I have the IP. This is where it come from:

Montreal-ppp20709.qc.sympatico.ca (207.61.180.145)

The problem is if he have a dialup connection, his IP is
never the same. I have fingered it with no such user as
response

I dont need is password, it is only because this guy likes
to flame people without having the courage of giving his true
identity to people. That piss me off, because someone that can
assume his post doesnt deserve the right to flame someone while
being anonymous.

You sound bitter.
What did he say to you to get you so pissed?

What he did?

Bof, in a french forum about Survivor2, I have say that all is
tricked and that I dont have time to loose for watching this
stupid thing. (IMHO)

He send me an e-mail saying that he will easily find me and
that I have better to stay clear from him, or somethig like
this!

Sure, I'm easy to find, because I sign my post with my real
email and my name is almost complet in it! I'm not affraid of
what I say and I respect people that do so.

So that why I'd like to know who he is to post his real name
on the forum for everybody that won't have the same opinion
than him and who will be flamed. I wont post it unless needed,
I don't want to start a flamewar there.

It's in the message header... Back in the day with old email programs the message header was part of the actual text in the email- now email programs hide it to make it look neat and not confuse ppl.

That is you can try to hack into someones computer fairly easily, If they are not using a proxy setup, a hardware firewall and software firewall etc, etc...

it's very hard to track down a static ip to a person's home... most hackers can track you down to your city/grid using ip trackers and fishing account programs that they wrote. but in order to know where you live, they'll need to hack into your isp and fish out your home address. only a very few people are smart enough to do that and get away with it. i can do it but i know i can't cover up the tracks fast enough... so watch out i;ll track you and harass you.

YAM (Yet Another Mailer)2.2
It is not for PC, because I use an Amiga...But the author give the source
for free for people who want to port it on other plateform.

I don't have the URL right now, but if someone is interrested
about porting it for PC, I will look at my archive and give it.

This is maybe the last piece of software that make me still using my
Amiga.

Yep!!

Amazing, didn't it!!!

I have tried to switch to PC sometimes, but Windows (no matter
wich version) kill all my best hopes!

I have just assembled , for a friend, a t-bird 900 with A7V, and
this thing just start to give me some of the feedback of my AmigaOS!

Windows multitasking is still nothing compared to AmigaOS multitask.

It is fun to see that my 50 MHz CPU can stillbe useful, when 1GHz
cpu strt just to give me the right feedback.

Sure, it doesn't calculate as fast than the 900 MHz, but, the OS
and the software are so well written, that it compense!

In fact, once booted, and with some commodities loaded, the OS
takes only 1.8 megs of RAM...Yes 1.8 megs! out of 80 megs!

My browser takes about 4 megs...with all the plugin. My mailer, maybe
3 megs! Add another 2 megs (estimated) for the TCP-IP stack,
and it is a little more than 10 megs to be fonctionnal and connected.

But I will soon need a PC. To takes rendering job. Probably an
Athlon 1000. And Windows. But I will try to install linux as well.

Linux sucks!
Linux is just a better implementation of Unix!
I say that Torwald creep , picked (stole!) the unix code, gave to it some rounds of implementation , gave it another name ( Surprise!Surprise! In honor to him (Linus->Linux)!) and say its something new!

And the Linux dudes talk about Micro"Pain in the ass!"$oft
basis for the Windows is the Gem from Apple! That they stole it from Apple? Well, might be!
But talk about Hypocrites!

Linux rocks!

I wanted to make a backup of one of my HD partition.

I take my HD off of my Amiga, put it in my cousin's PC, he boots
Linux, creates a mount file for a new SCSI device with the specs
my HD (AmigaOS FFS), mount it and Linux just recongnize my HD as part
of his SCSI chain...He then copy all the files on his HD, and burn me a
CD of all my stock, plus some of his.

I dont I could have done that with Windows!!!
