Why is the ATI 9700 pro 100 dollars more than say the FIC or the Saphirre 9700 pro cards. Are these cards true 9700 pro cards or is there stuff on the ATI card that makes it better than these cards. Anybody know?

where are you seeing these differences?
ive seen minor differences in price between those cards online, maybe 30 dollars, definately not 100.
last time i checked pricegrabber the ati and the fic were both 300.
anyways, make sure you check the product details/description or whatever and make sure it runs at the clock speeds its supposed to! (for a radeon 9700 pro that would be 325(gpu) and 320(ram))
as long as the cards are clocked the same, it dosnt matter what brand you get. you may prefer one brand over another because of extensive cooling, like hercules.
the fic runs at full speed so if its cheaper where u r, get it.

Long live ATI.

The difference i saw at Newegg. The ATI 9700 pro is 399 and the FIC 9700 pro or Saphirre 9700 pro is about 300. They both look the same as far as i can see. Check it out for yourself, cause i'd really like to know what differences there are.

Mate its like brand label clothes...

You can pay full price for a jacket, then goto a cheap store and get exactly the same jacket, made by another brand, for a cheaper price.. The difference is are you loyal to brand labels and reliability. Take mobile phones as anotehr example. Siemans may have all the exact same features as a nokia, for a cheaper price... But who buys the Siemans??? No-one... It all comes down to personal preference...

Reliability, on the other hand, is an important issue. What type of warranty is provided on the cheaper card? What guarantee do you have that it will provide the same speeds as the dearer one? Paying an extra $100 can be a big decision.. But probably a safe one..

Mate these fair-dinkum contraptions are bloddy alright... Pity they can't jump as high as a kangaroo!!

Appreciate the replies. Will probably get the chaper FIC card. I dont have much use for all those other goodies such as TV tuning.

hmm. ok, you might want to check at some other places (googlegear, etc.), cause you can get a built by ATI one for 300.
there really is no difference between those two, and the FIC is clocked at full speeds, but if you can, go for the ATI.

Long live ATI.

I found an ATI 9700 pro for 300 at mwave OEM. Ive dealt with them before and they are very good so i'll definately go for the ati card.
