Well firstly I'll explain what happened, my ASUS v8460 TD Ti4600 died a horrible death and has had to removed and sent for repair, Ive been told that it could take up to month or more to get a replacement.DOH!
However the computer shop ( I wont name it yet) offered a free up grade as it was still uner warranty. I thought gee thats nice so after getting home I check that they have repaced my ti4600 with the new ASUS 9280S ti4200. Ive done a quick check around and it seems to me that this is slower than my old card. the 8460 ran at 300/650Mhz and the 9280S is 250/600. It is overclockable but so was the old one! Looking at some benchmarks it looks to me as though this is maybe 5-10FPS slower overall. Id really like some expert advise on this ...should I demand an exact replace ment for my old one???

Cheers!!

Get a baseball bat and let it do the talkin  . But seriously the 9280 is nothing but an overclocked normal 4200 with 8x agp but i'm sure the 4600 can beat it anytime send it back as soon as you can.

I'd take it back and get a 4600. Sure you can overclock the 4200 to 4600 specs but then your headroom is gone. Take that 4600 and overclock it...Now you're playing with power.

A warranty is like for like, a 4200 is not a 4600 no matter what they say...
now a 4800 is a 4600 with 8xAGP, that I would settle for...

Hmmm, wonder if I can get a valid page fault ???
these invalid ones are far too commonplace...

They screwed you over big time. They gave you a card that was worth under half of the one you turned in. First, get a 4600. Second, NEVER deal with that place again.

If they dont fix the problem then call the Better Business Bureau
