I finally got my system up and running effectively, and ran 3dmark2001SE to check it out. I am just wondering if my system should be running faster / what safe things I can do to improve performance..

Asus P4G8X
P4 2.53ghz
2x512mb DDR266 kingston (dual mode)
ATI Radeon 9500 Pro
DirectX 9.0
Catalyst 3.2

I got a 12224 mark from 3dmark.. Should I be getting a higher score than that? Checking CPU / Configuration options that are comparable with others, scores go as high as 16000.. Any suggestions?

This is not relevant to your question, but i just wondered how your card performs whenplaying games. Is everything perfectly smooth with the highest graphics settings. I am interested as i am considering a 9500pro or 9700pro. Also, who is the manufacturer of the card?

Your score sounds bang on to me. Futuremark doesn't differentiate between 9500 and 9700 series cards, so you are going to have hard time telling in 2001SE which is which (2003 displays the clock speeds, which helps). And of course all the overclockers show up first in the listings :)

But your score is exactly what I would expect from a properly running system.
