bluetooth kbd on T5: how to reconnect faster?

First, I must say I'm a beginner in the Palm world, and probably an
ill-educated one, coming from a Psion...

I just bought a Tungsten T5 along with a ThinkOutside Stowaway bluetooth
keyboard, and after some awful setup (discovering just no Palm driver
was present on the keyboard CD, finally finding one on internet) I now
manage to pair both devices and indeed enter text in a notepad.

Now, this still involves, each time the Palm is switched off and on, a
quite long activity to re-pair both devices (find and launch keyboard
utility, require bluetooth menu, activate...).

My dream would be that each time I turn the T5 on, just after or maybe
just before unfoldong the keyboard, they auto-pair without me asking
anything. This may be trivial! Bear in mind I'm a complete beginner :-)

TIA!
Hervé

Your best chance is to ask support for the keyboard vendor.

As I've already said on the french newsgroup, you have to add the
keyboard to the trusted devices...

pair device = add trusted list devices

I know, yes, but people often get confused about that, so I suppose that
Hervé has not actually paired the devices.

Thanks for all the replies :-)
I found I just have to type a couple of characters on the (paired)
keyboard to reactivate everything, which is a bit funny

Thanks again!

I found the same thing. Also annoying is the warning after you
disconnect that BlueTooth (BT) is not on and is that OK?..... but you
find out that the only option is to turn BT on. And it keeps happening
every few minutes. There is a way to change that (I can't remember it),
but why can't you just tell the thing to leave BT off?

When I use the keyboard, I get two capital letters after each press of
the shift key? Did you find this as well? Anyone else?

Best regards

now, I have a better setup, I abandoned the secured bluetooth (using the
process where T5 just asks, 'type 123 please') and I just have to start
typing on the keyboard to reconnect. I switch on the keyboard first,
then the T5, then I type. Generally the first two characters are skipped
(or used in the reconnection process), but one ce you know it you juste
type HHHello...

not for me (but I think I read it somewhere else -do you have the right
driver on the T5? I found it only on the Thinkoutside site).
I still have an issue but this relates to our silly foreign accentuated
characters; for some of them Thinkoutside has set such a (secret) way
that you have first to find on internet where they are, then type half a
dozen keypresses (including triples like ctrl-alt-; ) before being done.
Needless to say, typing speed slows to a crawl for those ones...

Yes, same here - quite annoying, and so far the only way to avoid
it was to deliberately slow down my (not-so-fast-anyway) typing speed.

Add that to the slowness of the graffiti2 recognition speed on the T5:
it clearly indicates the T5 was made for people with time to spare.
(tealscript helps a bit, at least I can use graffiti 1 again, but
it's still not as fast and reliable as my old m515 or Vx).
