While my my TREO 650 is turned off, it will sometimes:
- beep
- turn itself on
- freeze for about 20 seconds
- unfreeze itself
- remain turned on
At that time the TREO becomes usable - I can either turn it off (I
didn't turn it on) or I can use it.
This happens sporadically. A week can go by without this happening and
sometimes it will do it every few minutes during a 15 minute period.
It seems that it is related to the SD card because when I remove the
card while it is frozen, it frees up and I can use the 650 without a
problem. When I put the card in, it may or may not freeze up again.
I tried doing a soft restart and I have tried a hard restart with
reinstalling my applications; that didn't help. I also updated the 650
with the latest Palm software upgrade and that also didn't help.
Besides being inconvenient, I have lost phone calls that came in during
the time it is frozen.
I wonder if anyone has experienced this problem and can advice if the
problem is with my 650, with the SD card, it is a 'feature' of the 650
or the source is some other problem?

Have you got Bluetooth enabled? My 650 wakes up when I boot my
BT-equipped laptop. It sometimes crashes as a result. I've also seen a
crash as a result of my BT car kit waking it up.

It is disabled and off.
I tried putting in a different card and it still will turn itself on
and freeze for a while. When there is no card in the 650 it seems to be
OK. I think I will bring the 650 in to Sprint to replace. I am not
excited about getting a reconditioned unit. Any experience with
reconditioned units? Are they more prone to problems or lower quality?

I have gotten a few reconditioned PDAs form Palm and never had a
problem. My greatest fear was scratched cases and no problem there
either.
