If microsoft is not to update the firmware to fix a few
bugs, an alternative firmware solution should be looked
at. I've been researching this, and some people have
successfully flashed it with another linux firmware using
the JTAG port. Is there a manual update in the online
setup, or any ideas of how to update using another
firmware without the JTAG!

An Alternative Firmware is the only way you'll ever see the bugs fixed on
this POS.

The Asus WL500G firmware has been flashed on this unit
(customized). They have to use JTAG, and cannot soft
flash it because no one knows how to. To flash to this
totaly new firmware from Windows CE is a mystery to us.
Someone claims "The only problem is that MS loader uses
192k of flash, while we're using 256k, so I'm not sure if
MS firmware will accept larger loader image (this is the
only part which needs to written, once done it will flash
firmware itself)." Perhaps someone can shed light on
this, maybe even microsoft!!! Help support the
continuous life for this product, we paid good money for
it!

Think if we ask MS to provide a firmware that did...
"As far as software flashing goes, the original CE
firmware code will have to be hacked to enble flashing of
non-validated firmwares (eg a file named poop.bin, etc)
and then that has to be flashed to the router before
flashing custom firmwares. If a well trained hack gets
around to it..."
