I recently purchased an Albatron 4800V from Newegg.com to use in my new machine. It was very late and it seems that I was a little too hasty. I was very pissed off to realize that I might, in fact, have a 4400 with 8X support.

I did see somewhere that not all 4800 cards are 4400s, that some cards were 4600s with 8X support. I haven't found an article on the 4800V that is written in English or not written by Albatron. Judging by the prices I've seen on the other 4800 cards, (I seem to have the king-daddy 4800, yay) I might have spent enough to have a 4600.

Can anyone tell me what GPU is used in my card? Also, short of removing the heatsink which seems to be epoxyed on the board, is there a way of telling what GPU is used? I'm considering RMAing the card but I won't if it's a 4600.

Thanks!

the 4200 4400 4200 (and those with agp8x support) ALL use the GF4TI gpu

only difference is the quality (ability to clock high) .. for example you can overclock a 4600 much higher than a 4200

blah.. siggys suck

and the higher the number the faster the ram you get too. 4200s rarely clock over 600mhz (ornot as much as 4400s)

Check your clock speed/memory frequency you should know in what class your Ti4800 is in. Albatron card will be more expensive than other brand because of their superior overclockability (Like Hercules in case of ATi Radeon card).

You never know how stupid you are until you have done something stupid enough for you to realize it.
