I'm running an upgrade version of XP Pro. I have read Magazine and newspaper articles regarding a problem with XP that causes it to hang at times - I belive I recall that MS was aware of the issue, but was going to include a patch when Service Pack 2 is issued - but that if it's a problem now, you can call them and they will issue you the patch for free. Well, I just started experiencing this "hanging/freezing" problem, called MS support - and they told me that I would have to give them the Knowledge Base article number. I have no clue what article that would be. Does anyone in the Forum know what the MS article # might be? Thanks, as always.

I'm not sure exactly which MSKB article you are referring to, but perhaps these articles will help you troubleshoot the problem:

Thanks for the links - but this problem deals with "freeze ups while web surfing" and kind of hanging for 3-5 sec. before executing a mouse click. Like when you shut a page by clicking on the X - it's taking 3-5 sec to close. Several times, XP has just frozen - had to shut down and re-boot. This has just started. MS was not helpful (are they ever).

Maybe this is it. But you can’t expect MS to know it, there only allow of the problem, lol.815411 But I don’t see how you could be affected, because I believe this is a problem that affects all applications, also doesn’t sound like it should just come out of no where and start to happen. Don’t quote me as this is just IMHO, and I could be wrong. If I am correct, then it’s something else. Have you open the Windows Task Manager while surfing the net, and check your CPU and memory usage? Also are you using any spybot software and is your system optimized, like disabling some Services also running a defrag and that short of stuff. Anyway that’s what I’m thinking.
