Interesting news.
http://nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=IO_20030409_7420
I don't like the looks of this. Worst case scenario: Nvidia/Ea program the games to run slower, or buggier on an ATI. I can see it now. when benchmarking a r400 vs a nv 35, in future mark 2003, the r400 makes 40000 compared to nvidia's 450 points. But, when you put in Madden 2004, the ATI card gets 5 frames/sec while the nvidia card gets 500000.
Hmmmm, if nvidia is going this route, then maby ATI should partner up with valve (Half-life 2), and John Carmack (Doom 3).
Either way, I don't have a good feeling about this, and just becuase nvidia did this, I'm going to go and buy an ATI card now.

This isn't a new thing. Deals like this happen all the time. Basically, all they are doing is working together to design a special set of instructions for their vid cards. ATI will be doing the same thing with EA shortly also. Specially written instructions are the name of the game, and any company that wants to stay competitive has to play this game...
