Nnothing! Tthis is possibly a bug-fixed version of NV30

Well, it doesnt say it has 8 pipelines, but I geuss 256bit is now a reality. It really does look like an NV30 core revamped. It makes sense beings how it is coming together so quickly, not long after the launch of the 5800Ultra....

Not much is new, the majority in fact is already from NV30, but if you filter enough, you should notice some optimizations and 256-bit. I don't recall that Shadow Volume Accelerator technology nor HCT Intellisample.

I really hope it will compete though, ATi needs to be pushed to release high performance R9800PROs with 256MB and DDR II.

Well, when you consider that memory bandwidth was one of NV30's biggest bottlenecks (relative to R300 and R350), and that DDR2 RAM just doesn't make sense because of the cost, it only makes sense to go to a 256-bit memory bus. Hell, I nailed that one three months ago, and I'm a layman.

If they can make it use a more conventional, quieter method of cooling, and fix the bugs, I'll bet you NV35 ends up being a pretty good product release.

It better be, because nVidia has pissed off enough people as it stands now.

Very true. What worries me most is the AA/Aniso performance though. I keep having doubts and worries, thinking the deficiency there is inherent to the architecture.

I dunno. I have only seen one benchmark was at The Inquirer:

Quake 3 1600x1200, 4XFSAA / 8XAF
NV30 48FPS
NV35 111 FPS.

I believe that benchmark was run with both cards underclocked to 250/500, in order to make a fair comparison.

Now, assuming this benchmark is true (who knows, right?) it represents a 133% increase at those settings. Could the memory bus have been that much of a bottleneck?

Some questions remain:

Will this increase translate to all benchmarks?

Will the image quality also increase, or will it continue to be inferior?

Will this increase "ramp" consistently at higher quality setting, or will R350 destroy at 6XFSAA and above?

im VERY interested to see how a 9800pro with DDR2 And teh 256bit memory path performs

man......... LOL.....thats alot of bandwidth

:D~~~~

It's far too early to speculate. What's going to be important to me is drivers, price, noise, heat, size, weight, image quality and AA/AF performance. The fps should come along for the ride if they make a good card.

Shadow Volume Accelerator

uhm.. HyperZ III of ati has stencil buffer optimisations in. remember what stencil buffers are used for in doom3? Shadow Volumes.

guess what? nvidia just needed the counterpart for being able to say look, not only the radeon9800 has optimization for the doom3 shadows. we, too.

i don't believe in that nv35 card. nvidia just let dawn strip to gain marketingpoints again. how low can they get?...

Twitch and What kind of box does it come in?

Gotta be a cool box to make me reconsider my 9600.

What's the matter you don't like Boxes !?! But the 9600 has a Cool EVIL Goalie on it! That's gotta mean POWER!

Looks like some interesting info, just wish we could get more and not feel like we're going for another ride.
