Need help buying a laptop gaming/college

its my first time buying a laptop since the one i got was a gift so im not sure what spec to look for or what company.

1. location? usa

2. cost? abit around $1600, more or less

3. size and portability ? 14-15 inch and yes needs to be portable because im going to college soon.

4. screen res? im not sure but something good high def

5. battery life? idk 2h and up

6. type of games to be played? sc2, skyrim, cod, mass effect 3, other rpg and strategy games, and online games. woud like toplay them on like medium or high settings

7. space? idk something good

8. other things ill be doing on it? web surfing, watching/downloading movies, and school ***.

9. optical drive? something good

10. how long ill be keeping it? around 4 to 5 years

11. video card? a good one, but i think i prefer NVIDIA GeForce.

12. memory? im not sure but something good

my friend recomended a dell xps, is it good ?

    The 799 one is the one you want to click, and customize the processor and other things to your liking. Remember that if you need high battery, the better processors and graphics will drain it fast. The most expensive ones just take the 799 and max the items. I suggest maxing what you need yourself.

  5. I5 to save money or i7 for more performance although the 540m isn't worth the price dell offers. Just make sure the i7 ends with qm, q for quad core. It's hard to justify the dell when the same specs can be found for $300+ less and you will also pay tax from the dell site but not on newegg.
