Yet another reason the 9500pro PWNS te competition

a few weeks ago, i pointed out that the 9500pro has vastly superior performance when rendering DirectX9 effects. the problem was i couldnt remember where i had found this information

half way down, some tests are turning out 170FPS on teh 9500pro, and only 30 on the GFFX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this, i dont have words to discribe whati think. its SICK. discusting, totally absolutely WRONG.

How can Nvidia sell this product claiming that it has superior performance and features, when its top of the line card cant even compete with ATI's value cards?

IMO, there should be a story on Marketplace or some other TV show that points out the companies that are taking advantage and stealing from consumers

Oh yea....now I remember. I love ATI! I glow just thinking about them...and the reason for this, is because I FUCKKING HATE NVIDIA...theyre decieving scum big headed lieing foul playing monopolitizing crack smoking sloths. Nothing will ever drive that out of my head. Period.

Still, I think that we're living in a great time as far as graphics cards go. Three years ago ATI released the 8500 for nearly $400 dollars. Today, looking at the 9600Pro, with it's $200 dollar price tag, and $149 dollar non pro, how can we complain really?...that is alot of performance for that price. Unheard of in comparison to past cards. I'm happy. Their doing a good job.

Actually blue, in all fairness to your question, and because your a pretty good guy, I'll say this. Nvidia first pissed me off when they released those magical Detonator drivers during the launch of ATI's 8500. It doesnt make me mad that they did that to ATI, but because they held back performance increasing technology from their customers, only to use it as a pawn in their chess game. I also hate Nvidia, because of what happened between them and Visiontek. If you followed that story, you might kinda see how they snuck into bed with some of Visiontek's employee's, and gave birth to BFG Technologies, using Visionteks own funds against them. The paper launch of NV30 was obviously a deterent to ATI's 9700, which is just competition I know, but they did such a lousy job pulling it off, telling customers to waite, and waite. People's high expectations of the card soared much higher than the framerates that it could provide. Then we have the Whole GeForce4 MX situation..You all know what happened, I dont even need to say. That stunt set the gaming community back a full year(or more) when it comes to the advancements in the games we love to play so much. Why couldnt Nvidia come clean with the fact that NV30 isnt even an eight pipe card?...BECAUSE THEIR DECIEVING LIARS HELL BENT ON THEIR OWN INTEREST'S..that's why. I could go on too Lt. but others here have heard me rant about all of this before. Besides, this is only making me look like an even bigger ATI fanboi, which we all know I am....Nvidia..even their name sucks.

GW...regarding nVidia's hostile business practices:

Don't take it so personally, man. Hehe! Like I've said before, nVidia is A business. There are not special or unique. They do the same things any other business does in a similar position. It just doesn't do any good to start moralizing this stuff, or you're gonna find yourself hating EVERY company. Remember when ATI released their special "Quake 3" drivers in order to improve performance in the world's most popular benchmark (and only that benchmark?) Have you checked into ATI's history of litigation? It isn't pretty. And what about 9600 PRO? It's a step back in performance from their previous model number. Yes, it still beats the competitive nVidia product, but ATI is doing some of the same stuff everyone flames nVidia for doing.

The ONLY difference between the two companies is strategic market positioning. nVidia has been on top, and ATI has been "the underdog." That's the ONLY reason ATI seems more likeable or more honorable at the moment. You notice, though, that as soon as the shoe is on the other foot, and ATI achieves the performance crown, all of a sudden they start playing "manipulate the market" games, just like nVidia was doing when they were on top.

I'm not trying to be a dick, because I happen to think ATI are the best graphics products on the market right now. I just don't understand how people can develop passionate feeling for or against any company. I've said it before and I'll say it again--they've ALL got their hands in your pocket.

I've ranted about all of this before, and even started a thread titled underdogs and the human spirit, in this thread, I admitted being guilty of everything you just pointed out. Yes I like ATI because they're the underdog, I laugh everytime the Iquirer.net calls Nvidia "GraphZilla" in their commentaries, you are right about ATI being guilty of the same stuff as Nvidia, but I dont care. I am going to hate Nvidia AND YOU CANT STOP ME...heh

Twitch, I understand what you mean when you say nVidia is a business, but GW has a point too. While businesses can be expected to do what is necessary to turn a profit there is also business ethics. Sure many companies have questionable actions but repeated constantly, those actions are no longer questionable but unethical. I personally believe nVidia took advantage of the common occurrence in the computer industry of having to postpone a release date, so they could intentionally falsely advertise the release date of their nv30 product line. In other words, since everyone pushes back release dates they thought lets give a fake release date we can't possibly meet and we can always keep pushing it back. While I have no proof if that is the case it is very unethical. I do believe it did cut into sales of ATI's product. I remember going into stores and just looking at a 9700pro card and having salesman tell me just wait the new nVidia cards will be here soon and will blow that away. I'm sure to the marketing reps for nVidia were telling all their vendors just that too. Personally I hope ATI doesn't start to "manipulate the market" as you say because they do have a more honest and ethical track record than nVidia, and I would hate to see them tarnish it.

No one gonna stop you from hating nVidia. Even when one day ATi become just like the current nVidia and that day is coming if NV35 is still a loser. I can't imagine the day when everyone is siding nVidia (or any company who able to beat ATi, maybe Matrox???) while no loyal fanboy to defend it.
BTW, you are not using AMD didn't you? If you are using AMD and because of your hatrate to nVidia, you are not going to use nForce2 chipset which happens to be the winner of AMD chipset. So basically you have to stick to the sucking VIA KT400/KT400A chipset or build system base on Intel Pentium IV, right?

see, to me that's good marketing, a smart business move. it would definitely piss me off if i were in the market for a video card and waited for a crappy NV30, but you can't really blame them for doing it. i don't consider it unethical or morally reprehensible.
as for ATi "manipulating the market," that's what the game is all about
well not <i>all</i> about, but it is an integral part of the game

It is possible that ATi will go down the track of corruption. Today you think they are more honest simply because they haven't became the market leader and make so much profit that make them stink. This is the trend of any company that in lead too long without competition. Without competitor's pressure they can do ANYTHING they like e.g. selling a crappy graphic card for $499 etc. And yesterday's VIA is today's nVidia, and may be, tomorrow's ATi. (however, Micro$oft is the all time leader)

because as companies grow larger from success, they increase their staff, increase the number of different departments...

soon, the head office in toronto (figuratively speaking) will have all the corporate ass's making all teh big decisions. and usually the corporate monkeys dont know a thing about gaming or what makes a great video card... so they will start making bad decisions like Nvidia did.
