no matter how long i hold the reset button down, the power
light will not go solid green. i have no firewall or
antivirus running, so i am assuming that i have to reset
the base station ( like it prompts you too ).

Resetting the base station only requires about five seconds or so, until you
get alternating orange and green lights. That indicates it has been reset
back to factory settings.
