How much for a new cpu for an alienware

my alienware m11x is lacking the power to play some newer games. i have an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU U 520 @ 1.07GHz, 1067 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s). i feel that i need a new replacement. how much would it cost to up grade to a core 2 duo or equivalent ??

the i5 series is newer than core 2 duo, so I think you are confused. This is probably a question for alienware, not sure of the TDP of your i5 chip, but if you find another mobile i5 chip with similar TDP it may work fine. The chassis will not like a faster hotter chip, as the cooling in it was designed for the "lite" chip you got in there.

C2D is not socket compatible with i5 CPU. It is also an older CPU.

If it is a i5-520UM, then you are probably limited to low voltage CPU (check if the same line of laptop offers standard voltage and possibly i7 CPU options). Then there is 2 type of socket for Arrandale standard voltage CPU, so make sure you get the one that fits, if your mobo support standard voltage CPU. Open it to find out.
