I got an ATI 9700 video and it rocks.

I got 3DMark2001SE (1024x768x32) of 13850 and 3DMark2003 of 4174.

System: MB = ASUS P4PE, CPU = P4-2.66 OC at 2.9GHz, FSB = 145Mhz, Mem Speed = 387MHz (DDR400), HeatSink = Standard Intel.

yea, that is pretty low, did you get the latest drivers? Completely get rid of all nvidia drivers? cos i get about 15500 with cat 3.2's on my 2100+@2800+ speeds

"What kind of idiot are you?"
"I don't know, what kinds are there?"

Yeah, thats okay with me. I did a pretty cheap upgrade from Geforce 2 pro and Pentium 3_1Ghz so its a huge increase in fps for the games.

I think card would do better under 8x agp. I havent played with the manual setting on agp/pci MB settings much yet, soon to go beyond 70/35 Mhz, is there a software driver to reset the radeon from default clock?

ah...
I see, I thought it was a Radeon9700 Pro
then I think it's pretty what you should get for, but sure you should be able to push it a little higher by flashing its Bios or using software such as Rage3D or PowerStrip to OC it

Thanks,

Last night I discovered the Sapphire 9700 normally comes with Redline program, the box video card came with even mentions it, however I got a WinDVD cd instead. I tried Rage3d and the OC tab, but everytime I setup a higher clock freg_Hz, the thing reverts back to default.

What goes on I say, my character does not have experience points on Radeon but has points elsewhere so I guess that ATI have managed to make the frequency stay put at 275/270 Mhz.

I might have to switch hats and look to see if the card has a local oscillator, and therefore clocked on its own and not from AGP clock so I can give up.

I might give Powerstrip a go later today.

I think the clock frequencies on the regular 9700 are locked. you'll need to flash it with the appropriate bios to change the clock speeds.

oh yeah, after you flash it with the correct bios it'll be unlocked so you should be able to OC it with any program. ie) power strip, rage3d. but i doubt you'll even need to overclock it. or just overclock it in a few months so it feels like a free upgrade!
