Not since our foray into the Council of Wyrms setting.

I'm sure plenty of people have tried half-dragon, and the 3.5 draconic
template from Draconomicon also rocks (draconic is to half-dragon as
tiefling is to half-fiend).

I think what Pammy here's saying is "Has anyone played a full-blooded dragon
as a PC?" In my case, yes. Not in D&D, however, so my input would be a
little off.

I ran a 2E campaign years ago where the party halfling got a hatchling
deep dragon as a "cohort"... Another (2E) campaign years later had a PC
who was a half-halfling half-dragon whose father was the hatchling
dragon from the earlier campaign.

Dragon -the magazine- has presented dragons as monster classes from
levels 1 to 20. Did the evil/chromatic dragons in the most recent June
issue and the good/metallic dragons in the June issue prior to that.

Stats for dragons and the half-dragon template are all in the Monster
Manual. Stats for draconic template are in the Draconomicon.

In my group, none of the players has gone deeper than +2 LA. The lack
of hit dice is just not worth it to them, even for the extra mojo.
