Eden, it hasn't launched into the market yet, but on their website it does say it's in stock, and gives a price, and a product number and everything, and says SHIPPING :<b>NOW</b> . So it's not just an advanced info/spec. page, those were up about a month or so ago. This is NEW.
As for the 9700P/9800P-poo comment; it's simply running in response to the 'why gt a 9600P?' vein. Don't ask a silly question (one that both Casual and I have explained to the Nth degree) about our choice of the 9600P implying that we should simply get a 9500P instead. That doesn't answer our question about the stange listing on the site, nor does it help. So I dismiss it in the sam manner. The only reason to choose a 9500P over the much superior 9700P/9800P is because you are to poor to buy one. Yes some people may talk about price/performce, but those are usually the poor people. Yeah it's a generalization, but so was the original statement, so I felt/feel it deserved a similarly general response.
I think the 9500P is a GOOD card, however it is notthe card that either Casual (I'm assuming based on posts) or I want, so therefore I don't need help deciding or poor advice about my choice, we just want to know why it posts pirce, availibility, etc. but does not give us the option of ordering one. I am only waiting for one thing, and that's an e-mail reply from Hercules about the specs/price/availibility(like when, even if I pay extra) otherwise I'm getting it ASAFP from ATI.com Yes I would prefer a Hercules Testosterone enhanced version with Gigantic HSF and Ram-sinks, but I'm only willing to wait 2 weeks longer thn ATI gets it to me and I MUST have it in my rig before I head east,because I'm takingout my current card to give to a friend for his PVR machine in his living room.
Anywhoo,to make a longstory sort, if I didn't care about the power/heat concerns I had, we wouldn't be having this discussion, I ould have had a 9500 or more likely 9700 in my rig LONG ago. I the 9600 turned out to perform worse than the 9000/9100 I would have simply written it off, and went out an bought a new powersupply, a few fans to replace my whispers, and a Hercules 9800P, without batting an eye.
I want my 9600P, I probably would prefer it from Hercules, but if I have to wait any longer than 1-2 weeks extra, I'm going with ATI, at whatever the price. I want it yesterday!
