Hi.
Does anyone remember, a few years back, White Wolf had a promotional
poster featuring a female vampire (in a white dress, I think she was),
and they ran a contest to see who could name her?
I remember it was very striking, but I can't remember enough about what
it looked like to even guess at who the artist was, and obviously I
don't know the title (since that was the whole point). Anyone know what
I'm talking about?

I do not know about the contest at all.
But I do own a large poster that was released at around the time when
Jyhad was renamed to VTES. The promotional text at the bottom is "The
Midnight Dance has begun."
It depicts a slender female vampire with white hair (but not dressed in
white), standing amidst some ruins. It is indeed very striking.
Since I am at work right now (*ahem*), I cannot give more details, and
cannot check who the artist is.
Does this sound like we are meaning the same thing?

I've got one of those on my wall too.
The artist is John Bolton. Circa 1995. There is also a limited edition
(500) plaster figure of the same vampire.

The poster was the official promo poster for the new release of Jyhad,
which was named "Vampire: The Eternal Struggle". :-)
The official press release from Wizards of the Coast, mentioning the
poster, can be found by googling for "john bolton jyhad proposed
change" in this newsgroup.
Another thread (search for "john bolton Trivia time girl" ) mentions a
contest in Inquest magazine that indeed involved finding a name for the
vampiress.

I remember the Bolton poster everyone is talking about (we've got some
of those) but the contest uses a different girl.
There is a 5ft tall standee of a girl used for Ancient Hearts promotion
(we've got one of those as well). The miniature version stands about
12 inches high and has the instructions for the "naming" contest.
