This latest version of DivX player has a featurenamed "Use accelerated post-processing for supported ATI Radeon® Hardware" . But I can't enable it, though I have Gigabyte Radeon 9000 (non-Pro) and use Catalyst 3.2 drivers

And I don't know how effective this feature is. Does anybody can give an idea about its effectiveness?

My card supports TrueFORM, but I've disabled it (both in D3D and OpenGL). R9000 also supports FullStrem

Have you tried enabling TrueForm to see if it changes anything?

wtf are are you guys serious? TruForm is for 3d apps, not playing video clips...

and no, the 9000 doesnt support it but thats not the point.... o_O

sounds like the feature means accelerating the video filters thru the video card. my old radeon 7200 accelerated most gui features like alpha blending on websites and watnot...

is the checkbox greyed out? maybe its bcause your video card already supports it fully and theres no need to disble it?

first support will come with catalist 3.3, but it will only work on r300 and later chips, it requires videoshaders. so a 9500 is needed at least.

truform has NOTHING to do with it.

please inform yourself, dudes, before giving crappy replies.

Dave...that post was pretty unlike you. This little discussion we were having was kind of an informal one, and was kinda amongst ourselves....nothing critical. I respect you here alot, but your reply was a little harsh. I dont program, or know the true fundamentals M.S.'s HLSL. But I dont need to be talked to like I'm and idiot.

The new Player is supposed to utilize the Fullstream features on newer ATI chips. If I remember correctly, that means using pixel shaders to improve the image quality.

I know that TRUFORM has nothing to do with video, but I messed with it to see if it does anything

If R9000 doesn't support TRUFORM, so why I can enable it in "Return to Castle Wolfenstein"?

Are you sure that it's FullStream related?

i'm not in a good mood, praying the whole day my girlfriend doesn't break up. thats the reason for the harsh tone. but its all true.

truform has nothing to do with it. truform is supported since radeon8500 but got disabled again. it is to round lowpoly meshes to make them look smoother, by adding more polygons.

it needs videoshaders, how ever that got called (it has different names i think), as they are there to "shade videos", means to process video data. they are actually the normal pixelshader hw, and they are there to filter and enhance video streams (infos all on the ati page). they got used first time now in the newest divx, and support follows in the next ati drivers.

was to read on ati.com, on divx.com, on rage3d.com, and quite some other places. links where around everywhere.

please really inform yourselfs, dudes, and wish me good luck.. i don't want to loose her..

Are you guys thinking of term "Videosoap" instead of "Truform" maybe?

I know Videosoap is enabled in Radeon 9000s and up. They enabled it in the 9100 driver but not in the 8500 driver, which is stupid because they are the same hardware...

Good lord... fullstream, Videosoap, Truform... these marketing terms are nuts.

BTW, Good luck, Dave.

well maybe im wrong, but i couldve sworn that one of the ways ATI made the 9000 cheaper to produce than the 8500 was by removing support for TruForm..

but i dont have any articles to back it up right now. if you can enable it and see a difference, then hey i guess i was wrong :p

I can´t be completly sure that they´re using Fullstream (part of the Videoshader engine), but since Videoshader, and particularly Fullstream, was a noted feature on the R300, I´m 97% sure it´s realated to Fullstream.
