Computer/Notebook: Toshiba Satellite M305D-S4831

Issue: There is not video output to the laptop screen or desktop monitor with cable.

Potential Problems:
Motherboard in need of repair/replace.
Video cable in need of repair/replace (unlikely because of no output to external monitor)
LCD Screen in need of replacement (unlikely because of no output to external monitor)

Here is the caveat, and the real reason for my post. I received this monitor computer without a hard drive or caddy. I have a drive and I am awaiting the caddy and SATA connector that was just ordered.

Will not having a hard drive in the laptop cause it to NOT output video?

I can't imagine that being the case because if your drive failed, you may still want to get into the bios. It would seem odd for a computer manufacturer to do such a thing, but we've all seen them make dumber moves.

Can anyone confirm one way or another? Perhaps someone is willing to remove their Satellite drive from the same (or similar) model, test the boot up and report back here.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
