1. What is your budget?
I plan on spending 1000-1200, cheaper is of course always better and I will gladly pay less I can

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
14-17, almost irrelevant

3. What screen resolution do you want?
1600x900+ is appreciated, but 1366x768 will suffice

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Needs to be portable enough to take to class, that said I prefer power over portability

5. How much battery life do you need?
It MUST make it through a 2 hour class, lasting 3-4 hours is a plus

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Yes, I play a lot of games in my off time, ranging from simple indie games to Stalker/BF3, this isn't my main gaming machine,
so as long as it runs current games at a high fps on low I don't care

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Compiling, databasing, needs to be able to run anything I throw at it

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
500 gb+

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
newegg is always nice, but I will gladly buy directly from manufacturer or from elsewhere if they have a nice deal

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
I want to be able to rely on this thing through the next 3-4 years at least

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
I honestly don't need one, better is better I suppose

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
Open to opinion, kinda anti-HP
Looking specifically at Lenovo, Toshiba, Dell XPS, Asus

13. What country do you live in?
United States

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
That about covers it, currently looking at the Lenovo Y570/Y470 which are on sale in a nice config for under 1k, and seems perfect except a barely acceptable 1366 resolution. Thanks in advance!
