radeon 9500 problems

Hi all,
I recently replaced my geforce 3 with a 9500 non-pro.
Now Real player randomly hard locks my computer when playing clips. I have an ahtalon 2100+ with soyo dragon+ MB and win XP. Real player has always been kind of buggy but it would not hard lock the computer with my geforce 3. It would hang up sometimes but I would just have to hit cntrl alt del and close the program. I have had problems with every ATI card I have had. I keep trying because I like the visual quality of thier cards. Why can't nvidia make a card with this kind of visual quality and a good TV out? If they did I would never buy another ATI peice of crap even if it did perform a little faster. Why is it my game cube can look soooo good on my TV but the TV out on my $300 vid card looks like sh*t? Anyways I'm starting to rant. Anyone have any idea if I can fix this problem? I get no response from ATI.

Actually you can blame nVidia, the nVidia driver plants a bug that makes the ATI driver crap out. Someone in here has a solution I'm sure.

hehe, I shouldn't have implied it was intentional, but the fact remains that many users have had to rip out the nVidia drivers and remove the reference to the card as device 0 or 1 from the registry. Other guys have had to reformat their drives, but I think that's because they don't know what else to do.

Hey,
Thanks for the replies. Ok, so how do I remove the nvidia drivers? Do a search and delete all nvidia files in safe mode? Can you tell me what registry entry to change and where. I like learning this kind of stuff. I'm a guy that hasn't had any formal training but can learn how to do this. I build my own computers and learned how to do it on my own reading tomsHW and stuff.

i have the same problem with real. the only reason i have it is to watch dave chappel clips. why they made them in the real format is beyond me. that software is terrible. i dont blame via, i dont blame nvidia, or ati. blame real for this plague known as real one.

www.guru3d.com has a program called Detonator Destroyer. As for the registry key, I think you can find it using the "search" command in regedit.

Another member mentioned a problem with Real One, I don't know if that's a factor or not.
