Just got my 9600P; some 3Dmarks just FYI

Well it's in my rig and running smoothely. Great image quality. Quite happy, no problems with the install except my own mistake BEFORE intalling.

I ran 3Dmark for you guys just for info. sake. They won't blow you away, but it should add to the info out there. Look at the specific tests to get a better idea of the breakdown of the performance.

** NOTE ** It appears that I can't show two 3D2k3 marks at the same time so this one will be disabled for a while will the new 'performance' one is published, and then I will erase that one and 're-active' the 2k3 one in this post {and erase this note}.

3Dmark2003(w/patch)= 3155

I'll tweak later when I have more time. And we'll see what we can get. But for now I thought I'd share what I've got so far. Definitely a step up from the 8500DV, Rage Fury and AIWPCI (and 9000NP in 'work rig') I've been running (at various times). I re-benched the AIW 128bit PCI before swapping it and it got 614 in 3DMK2001SE and that was with everything running at 16bit, instead of 32 (wouldn't run at default).

Just ran it with all the settings turned to 'Highest Performance' and 'always off' from my usual default of 'quality' / 'application preference'.

They are about the same as the previous one's only a SLIGHT boost 10,225/3,193 vs 10,034/3,155, so don't bother unless you're looking for the slight diffs (like an increase of +2.6 FPS in Nature and +9 fps for Car chase Low in 2k1; +2.1 FPS in Wings, and +0.5 fps for Nature [stat. signif.?] in 2K3).

3D2K1(perf)

3D2K3(perf) = 3193

I did notice that it appears in XP I never loaded the SB Audigy drivers (just assumed they would be imported from W2K), but it still works fine for movies/tunes, I just wonder if that's why it doesn't do the 60 sound test or if it still won't support it. Anywho, something else to tweak tonight after work. But I won't post marks or anything, just edit end of this post if it works.

** NOTE **
I just checked the links and it appears that I can only post one at a time so you guys can't compare. Sorry. I'll leave this 'new one up for a while then come back, delete it (leaving the little notes) and re-activate the orignal.

LOL!

PHIAL, I will, I WILL! For sure. But I want to do it once I have a stable benchmark (wanna get Win2K running again FIRST), then I will and I'll try to PM you even when I post the results. I'm sorry to say 'have patience' but I'm orking all week and skiing on the weekend (yeah, it's snowing RIGHT NOW in Calgary). So I do want to overclock it (although I MAY be more timid than the one's I posted here, but I'll definitely get to that just for info sake. I will likely run at stock (fo longevity) or the arbitrary OC of 432/321(642) (just for fun) or , maybe 432/339(678). But the SERIOUS permanent overclock won't happen until games require it.

Anywhoo, I'll keep you posted but it may be a bit of time. Sorry. :frown:

Phial Actually when I 'tweak for the hell of it' (ie temporary) I will likely break the 500mhz barrier if this card is anything like the other reviewed. Their stable overclocks were from +120 to over +160 mhz on the core. Anywhoo, we shall see and I'll let you know.

i imagine that at 500 core it will surely surpass the 9500pro, even tho it has 2 pixel shaders compared to 4. wow.. !! ok let us know when you do

lol yeah cool

wat im VERY confused at is the fill rate, and polygon performance!

wat interesting is my radeon clocked at stock 250/250 has higher multitexturing fill rate, single texturing fill rate is almost the same, and can do 37mil polys with one light, 9with 8 lights....

o_O

doesnt that seem kinda strange, considering the 9600pro is like alot newer? the only area with a huge performance increase si the pixel shader tests and bump mapping

I think the radeon 9100 (Really an 8500) does so well with multitexturing because it has 2 texture units per pipe.

The 9600 only has one texture unit per pixel pipe, and both of the cards have four pipes.

Still, you're right... it's weird to see the good old Radeon 8500 beating the snot out of a brand new Radeon 9600 PRO in multitexturing operations...

Ape! Hockey is good, but...

GET US THOSE OVERCLOCKING STATS! W00t!

That happens if you overclock too far, my 8500LE was like that...it wouldnt lock up, it would just give a lower score...

I'm starting now, I'll post the results from work, just had to step back into tthe 3D chip forum to look up the OC links I posted before and get an idea of what they used. I decided to use Radlinker first, and then stick with Rage3dTweak for the long haul.

OH you got your 3dmark01 scores!!!!!!!!

and wow, the fillrate IS twice that of a 8500 (or somewhat) ... i was a little confused before at the other results i seen.

man, its at least double in every area... polygon performance, DX8 effects, bump mapping woot! i want one

i still think the 9500pro is better than a 9600pro, because it has 4 pixel shaders and 8 pipelines vs 2 pixelshaders/4 single texturing pipeline of the 9600pro.

sorry ApeMan =(

Yeah, I'll try Rage3dTweak on a go-forward basis but I thought what the heck, go with the one I won't use first, and uninstall then go with the one I plan on keeping instead fo installing twice.

So Far I've had only one GOOD run of 3Dmk01 giving a result of 109XX running at 49X.XX core and 312.XX mem, I didn't save it as it was just the beginning I thought. I thought ok, let's gor from there. I mistakenly went straight to 546.XX and 33X.XX mem, and crashed right at the truck chase (test 1). Then I backed it down an bit and crashed again in test 1. Last time I was at 53X.XX and 326.XX and crashed in NATURE.
This run is running @ 515.25/317.25 just to get a stable 'ground level', and I've made it to pixel shader water scene ok.

Ater that run I will go to 3Dmk03 and get some baseline there.

See y'all in a bit.

And PHIAL, no worries, I like my card, regardless of all others. The thing is to know what you need, and then be happy you have it. I never second guess my purchases, although I may say 'yeah I shoulda waited..', but I do the research I can and then go from there. Yes I would like to get an RV360 when it comes out, but we shall see what it has to offer.

Ok here's the Baseline for the OC 9600P 515.25/317.25

3Dmk01SE

Some interesting notes. Dragothic 20+fps low/+14fps High detail; Nature +10FPS; Advance pixel shader +30 FPS; game 1 (chase) high detail (same score [+0.1fps]); game 3 lobby almost identical scores. All other areas showed marked increases. Weird about Lobby scene no change, and no change to Test 1 High Detail.

Alright off to 3Dmk03. Be back in a bit (also have to shower before work, so it may take longer [yes, I'm now sharing too much info.])

Ok. and here's the new 3Dmk03 mark;

3Dmk03 Bungholio marks = 3944

I'll comment on it later, gotta get ready for work.

GW, yes I like the card but remember I'm not going to OC it until I need to for games, and by that time I'll probably buy the RV400. We shall see. Anywhoo, I'm happy, especially since it's cheaper than the R9500P if you buy a retail board (I only would go with Hercules otherwise). Even in stores here I've seen the R9600P Retail for $269. Which is about the same price as an R9500P Sapphire. So imagine in another month or so when there are OEMs out there.

However GW, remember we still respect you despite your power hungry hotter card.
