Performance diff between Radeon 9800 TX & Pro?

Last response: in Graphics & Displays

Dell currently offers two high end video cards:

ATI Radeon 9800 plain vanilla, and
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

There is a $280 CDN ($200 US) difference between the prices.

My questions are:

- Are there any benchmarks comparing these two cards side by side?
- Does the ATI 9800 TX (the NON-pro version) perform better than the 9600 Pro?

I know the cards aren't "out" yet, but Dell gets these things before everyone else because they have a special deal with them.

Any answers & links are very highly appreciated, I'm about to plunk down ~$2300 CDN for a new system in a few days.

If you have ~$2300 CDN to spend, then don't buy Dell!

What kind of system are you planning on buying?
Edited by Sarke on 05/12/03 06:33 PM.

The performance difference is probably only worth $50 U.S. at most!

Seriously though, you should just buy a custom computer from me.

Phial, you could proabably build the equivalent system and have about $500+ to spare. Can anyone say DVD-burner or better/bigger monitor?

Don't get a Dell, unless it's a laptop (which it isn't in this case).

I went to a local computer parts store. The exact same system (p4 2.66ghz, 533 bus, 512 meg KVR Kingston Ram, 9800 Radeon TX, 19" Viewsonic monitor CRT Flatscreen no grill lines) goes for like $400 more.

Now that I heard that the 800mhz FSB is coming out very soon on 2.4/2.6/2.8/3.0 ghz systems, I'm thinking of just buying a 2.4ghz 800mhz FSB, because it will be upgradeable all the way to 4ghz. But it's WAY more expensive because I need 400mhz ram, a better MB, etc.

Try building me a system. You won't be able to get a decent one for less than $2400 before taxes, which is what I'm looking for.
