High end video card with editing

I've finally gotten the go-ahead to build a PC for a friend who wants all high end stuff. AFA the video card, he's going to be doing a fair amount of video editing as well as needing gaming power. ATI AIW 9700 immediately came to mind.

But, what about this FireGL ATI card? Is that worth the extra expense? Do any of them have all the extra video capabilities like an AIW?

Also, is there any other card I should be considering in this class?

A fireGL will do nothing for video editing. It's optimized to run professional applications (i.e. 3dsMAX)

The 9700 AIW would be the wonder card for your buddy.

If you're SERIOUS about video editing, don't get an all-in-wonder... just get a regular 9700 PRO and pick up a used matrox RT2500 daughtercard off of e-bay. Should be about $400 usd and will let your buddy to realtime multiple stream video effects. Very good video editing card, and cheap as hell used.
