Should I get the 64mb version of the ATI RADEON 9500?
If I do, could I mod that to a 9700?
Right now, I dont know what to decide on which I should get, there is a $20.00 price difference.

Of course, choose the 128 Megs version. For only 20$ it's a bargain.

And don't forget, usually ATI underclock the video memory ontheir board. When you'll have the board in hand. Check the label on the memory chip to see their speed.

My Radeon 8500 memory was clocked to 250 MHz and the memory chips are labelled 275 MHz. So, I overclocked my memory to 300 MHz without any trouble.

If you want your card to last long, then get the 128MB one. There'll be upcoming games that require more than 64MB, and there's no way you can add more memory to the vid card.

128 MB is the way to go now. You might not see a performance difference now, but upcoming games use alot of textures and will require more texture space if you want to see the eye candy.

With the R9500/9700 series, they no longer pull that stuff, even the OEM versions.

BTW, the 64MB won't necessarily mod sucessfully, as in no artifacts and such. Also, the 128MB is faster overall, so for $20, go for it.
