I just ran 3DMark, and my score went down slightly....hopefully the vision quality in games went up though....not that it needs to go up. I have never seen my games look as beautiful as they do now with this 9500Pro. It's awsome to see Dragothic at 200+ frames per second.

Um... These things better have KICK ASS Open GL performance cause so far im pissed.
I ran the built in ut2k3 bencher, and my scores were about 1% higher, big freaking whoop.
These drivers better kick ass in doom3 and 3dmark 03. I was hoping for more ut2k3 performance, but its not there:(

All of what ive read (except the early benching of the 3.4s on the THG review) has said "highly anticipated, bla bla bla, highly optimized"
Its taken them a long time, and they skipped 3.3s, i really thought 3.4s would kick ass. It dosnt look like theyll do much of ANYTHING to increase scores, if ut2k3 is a good indication. Hopefully im wrong, and other things increase more, esp. the open gl part to make doom3 kick ass.

im dloading the control panel now.

Gen, there are a couple points in dragothic where ive gotten over 300 fps. Pretty cool i guess, but dragothic is 14m3. The dragon does look very good though, too bad the people dont:(

I agree though, the performance boosts overall are just not what we expected. The so-called 9700 boosts were quite hidden overall, and I don't look for AA and Aniso performance only, I want standard gaming to be better.

Lowered expectations.

I call it low-performance because it is lower than 9500PRO, and we've seen so far the DESASTROUS performance it has in Doom III's preview. Even the FX5600 beats it...a day of true shame... :frown:

Dear Eden....you dont stay up with current news do you...The Nvidia cards cheated. Did you read grapes thread about his 3DMark scores?...his 9600Pro and my 9500Pro are so close it's unreal.. I know we have different systems, but it's still a pretty good indication of whats going on....P.S....I have a chubby.

im using Catlyst 2.1 and ive never had better performance. and i get less image tearing also


the new Cats are definately optimized for R300 based cards. good for you guys, like GW and ApeMan, but R200 users like me are better off to stick with the older versions

my 3dmark score went up by 1100 points by going from cat3.2 to 2.1

And when you said you had a 'Chubby' I almost died laughing. Why, because in my hand was a chubby. And NO I don't get THAT excited about his forum or the posts, it just here in Canada a beverage company named COTT (they make the US Wal-marts' in store pop) makes a very small bottle pop called of course 'Chubby' I almost choked on the Green Cream Soda. I'm sure some other Canucks have seen it in Loblaws or the like. Man that made me LOL.

Anywhoo, yes Eden it's an interesting card. Not sure of the LONG term overclockability/effects. But the initial trials turned up some interesting results.

IMHO this is the best driver release from ATI. The perf gained from 3.4 is better than if i clocked my card to 337/337. And combined i get close to scores of a 9800 on 3.2 drivers!

Just like someone else stated, these were cheats in 3dMark 03, but I was talking about Doom III. The FX5600 Ultra outdone the rest.
And this isn't the entire Detonator FX yet, it seems.
Anyways, I'm still more inclined at a 9700 anyday.

oh my God, guess what?
I did a clean install with Catalyst3.4, under Windows2000, I got only 8500, holy..
I installed back Catalyst3.2, and my score is 9100
what a big difference~
