Do I need Catalyst v3.4?

I'm running Catalyst v3.1 on my 3D Prophet 9700 Pro now, what do I benefit from updating to v3.4? Or should I save the download time and wait for another release?

This is kind of funny. I too am running Catalyst 3.1 with my 3D Prophet 9700Pro. The first impressions I´ve heard from other users suggest this is one driver definitely worth trying. I´ll install it later today.

I don't know how would it perform with the R300 Product..
but it performs worse for R200 product, in DX8, I don't know how it would perform with DX9, but anyway..I don't want to try
I got a R8500LE, with 3Dmark of 9100 with Catalyst3.2, then I got 8500 with Catalyst3.4..!$~#~#$!@...

You dont need it, but the bug fixes and direct x 9 performance increase are well worth it

for r9xxx products it increases scores slightly.
the biggest increase comes for the 9700 pro, so you guys definately want it. Its not that big anyways so stop being gay, i downloaded it on 56k, dosnt take long at all.

the biggest thing youll notice is aa/af performance will increase.

OK, if I want to update the driver, should I get the manufacturer driver from Hercules or get it from ATI?

Another question. I reinstall Catalyst 3.1 recently bcause of some reason, I notice that after the reinstallation, the "Rotation" tab is missing from the control panel, what has happened? (although I don't need this feature but it's kind of funny that it actually dissapear)

The ones of ATI.com work fine.

For me it´s the Smartgart-tab that´s disappering, with 3.4 it shows though.

Just remember to un-install the previous drivers properly, minimizes the risk of problems.

Yeah they didn't actually incorporate it you have to go to the driver page and at the VERY bottom is the uninstall utility. ATI seems to want to do it the hard way intead.

May I know why the SMARTGART tab is supposed to be uninstalled? Is it some stability problem? And again why my ROTATION untility dissapear? Do I face some driver problem?

No, I meant the tab just disappered.
I think the story goes somehow like this: I was using Cat 3.0 and upgraded to v.3.1. The Smartgart tab had appered (I never saw it with the 3.0 control panel). Then after a reboot the tab was gone again. Strange. And now with Catalyst 3.4 control panel the Smartgart tab is back.

GW, Smartgart is still included in this release. I don´t know why so many people are whining about it being present, but apparently they got ATI´s driver team going, and got them to write the un-instaler.

Ive always had smartgart in the control panel & I am running the 3.2s... oh well, no bother to me...3.4s tonite...

Hmmm, wonder if I can get a valid page fault ???
