What you are experiencing is known as the blue screen of death. This occurs when some kind of hardware issue takes place. It is generally caused by a failing piece of hardware, an incompatible piece of hardware, a hardware driver issue or a change in bios settings after a Win 7 installation that causes the wrong driver to be loaded during start up. Your situation is not the most common scenario. It could be that your NIC is playing up or conflicting with say a wireless setup on your laptop. It could also possibly that when you try and download the system tries to write to a particular part of your HDD which may be having issues. Test your HDD out to make sure it is functioning as it should. Make sure whatever you are using to connect to your router (unless you are using dial up) has the latest drivers and that all other network devices are turned off or disabled.
