Acer laptop produces music to remind me it is still on

Hello,
my acer 1640 z-series laptop plays this horrible tune when i leave it unattended for about 5 minutes, even when i'm playing music on it. it drives me mad! i can stop it by hitting a key but would be much happier if i could switch that particular function off..
any ideas anyone?

You might try changing your screen saver to none.
Alternately, use msconfig for trouble shooting [ GooGle - How to troubleshoot configuration errors by using the System Configuration utility in Windows ]
also, Anvir task manager available on CNET is a nice addition to your tool box.
