Not exactly sure what's going on here, and I'm not sure when it really started, but here goes:
I've noticed an odd trend while playing accelerated games with my GeForce3 Ti 500- From the moment the game runs and the graphics card is doing its job of acceleration, every once in awhile the game will hang for around a minute or so. The sound will continue to loop, but with the video frame frozen and the gameplay at a halt. Eventually it resumes and gameplay goes back to normal, but there is nothing I can do or press while the pause is in motion. The problem always reoccurs when you least expect it, too. Argh. This happens from time to time while playing GTA Vice City, and happens quite often while playing UT2003. I'm running the 44.03 Detonator drivers, DX9, WinXP SP1, and a 1.5 GHz P4 / 512 SDRAM. Getting outdated pretty fast, I might add. Also, I have an SB Audigy Value soundcard, but for both of the games mentioned I've tried turning hardware-accelerated sound both on and off, to no avail. :-(
Any help/suggestions would be totally appreciated. Thanks for reading!
