when does the GeForce FX 5900 come out?

I just read the review of the GeForce FX 5900 here. It seems like it beats the RADEON 9800 Pro.

So when does the GeForce FX 5900 come out. I want one since im in the process of building a new machine.

Depends:
Does Nvidia stick to their previous method of paper launching a product (Fx 5800) and then waiting 6 months till it is "finally" available to the consumer
Or
have they smartened up and reliazed that the tech community hates paper launches.

Dunno. check out pricewatch.com. If this card is out there then it will show up if you search.

I'd go with the 9800Pro 256mb. At least ATI doesn't cheat with their benchmarks.

The FX 5900 has proven itself to be faster in several GAME benchmarks right here at THG. The cheating in 3DMark affects 3DMark, not the game benchmarks. I wouldn't trust the Doom III benchmark much, but the 5900 wins in many current games.

I think the 5900 will be out in June.

From what I've seen, I think it's reasonable to conclude that the 5900 is <i>slightly</i> faster overall than the 9800 PRO. I also think that nVidia is cheating to pad the stats so they can justify charging $100 more for the card.

This scandal is only a few days old. So far there is controversy surrounding both 3dmark03 and Splinter Cell. It might get worse yet. I wouldn't judge, good or bad, the 5900 until the dust settles. It's just too much money to spend on a card unless you have a clear picture of its performance.
