According to the benchmarks the 5600 Ultra is probably a tiny tiny bit faster, although in light of recent discoveries I find it hard to trust them completely. Inded some of the results look a bit strange now.

but is this 5% average worth the extra price?

you can pick up a 9700np for the price of a 5600ultra, or probably even cheaper

and theres no contest as to what is faster, a 9700np or 5600utra

From what I've seen, the 9600 is the way to go. It overclocks like a banshee, new detonator drivers or not.

But if you have enough money for a FX5600, why not go for a 9700 non-pro? SHould be about the same price, and the 9700 kicks.

The 5600 Ultra looks really promising even without the cheated drivers, also Nvidia will revise thoes drivers soo wait and see what happens

Why not buy bothe then you can use the novideo card in the john.
Having reread the original post though I can tell you that the 9600 will not work at all with the detonator drivers. lol
Edited by endyen on 05/28/03 01:18 AM.

Sorry phial, in english usage it would be common for the phase "with denoator drivers" to apply to bothe the ati card and the novidea card. That way you dont have to write it twice. It is a bit obscure but when I get pissed my funny bone does funny things.A good case for pulling the 5900 benches wouldn't you say.

When I reread the original post it said "How does the 5600 ultra with the detonator drivers compare with the 9600 pro"
[with the detonator drivers]. The part in [ ] is implied.
When I realized that, my first thought was yah novidia would love that, anything to make Ati look bad. You see ,not to long ago I tried to go from an nvidia card to an Ati card without doing a clean os install. I know how much trouble even a little bit of detonator can cause to an Ati card. I hope this clears up things a bit.

You either suck at typing or u don't know english what on earth are you talking about??? and novida? that's so uncreative have something like "nvidiot" or something and from ur post i could see u have problem with the detonator drivers?? well that's not nvidia's problem is it? beside u know a program called nasty file remover?? just because u don't know how to setup the driver correctly gives you no right to comment on how bad Nvidia cards are. Also does anyone here have 5600 Ultra or 9600pro?? i don't think so, so don't judge a book by it's cover(being reference boards) and wait for the real thing

Um no it would not be, nVidia is currently cheating. There is no trust.

Chill dude, I think what he was trying to say was that the 5600 FX would be a lot better with Detonator drivers than the Radeon 9600 PRO would be with Detonator drivers. You know...a joke? Ha ha?

While I don't trust them and they did cheat they still make better drivers that work for more people than ATI. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't trade my 9600pro for anything, but I sure would love some trouble free drivers and that is one thing nvidia seems to excel at...
