Just a thought, in the discription it said "DriverFileDescription: ATI Radeon WindowsNT Display Driver". Did you install the XP or the NT version?

XP and NT are the same driver, they're all in one drivers.

What are you doing on the computer when these problems arise?

I can be doing nothing at all, reboot the comp, then just let it sit and this happens....I also get strange little horizontal lines on the desktop when playing, say, an avi file in any media player i have.....right now i put my ti4600 back in and its running fine, might just take back this ATI crap and stick to Nvidia from now on

I think what GW was trying to say it look up how to remove NVidia drivers before you install ATI drivers... sometimes he is hard to follow... (you can even go to the ATI site and likely find directions there for your OS). If you just put the old card back in and it worked, then you likely have serious driver conflict issues... you must get rid of all the old ones before you can expect the new ATI card to work, and sometimes it takes a bit of work... but don't try overcloaking, for you will never find your card after it disapears...

ok i'll ignore the flaming seeing as thats apparently how most forums are, but anyway i even went so far as to reformat my HD to get anything Nvidia at all off the HD, emailed ATI directly with the errors and they just sent me a generic "try reading the FAQ's page" response, no help there and i don't mess with "overcloaking", i dont see any reason for that as these are supposed to be decent cards

ok, I'd hate for you to take back this card, since I just tested my sisters R9500Pro, and I have a R9700Pro, and they both run extremely well. Would be cool for you to see what I see....

Let's start with system specs man. Tell us what ya got in the box.

The old "infinite loop." Here's a pretty good article exaplaining it and the process for troubleshooting:

One quick thing you can try is disabling FastWrites (if it's enabled...)

That works on some of the problems.

The problem with the "infinite loop" error is virtually anything can cause it. The first thing to do is disable some driver features that may not be compatible with your motherboard, like Fastwrites. If it fixes the problem, you're done. If not, go onto something else...

Once you've determined it does not involve a driver conflict or corrupted Windows file, it's time to look at hardware.

Most of the time it's the carbon unit in front of the computer.
