9800 PRO and nonpro?

I must ask if there´s really two versions of the 9800. On ATI´s website there´s nothing that indicates to that. Can anyone who really knows give their reply?

There is no 9800 non-pro at this time.

I believe the 9800 non-Pro is only sold in complete systems, like Dells.

So there´s a maybe!!! I´m asking since I will get a Presario 8000 SE soon, and the specs says Radeon 9800.... nothing else, but since I have never seen any non pro versions, I reckon that I will get ???? well any kind of the 9800. Would have been interesting to see a test of the 9800 non pro, if it exists.

If you really want a non pro, buy a 9800 pro and underclock it. Presto! instant non pro hehehehehe

Have you considered a 9700pro, they have come down ALOT in price cauz of the 9800.

I have a 9800 non-pro which i obtained from a friend's 8300 Dell Dimension PC.

Initially it is clocked slightly slower that a 9700 Pro

BUT! The RAM is identical Samsung to that seen in 9800 Pro reviews (rated at 350mhz) and the heatsink/fan is identical.

so I used Powerstrip to overclock to Pro levels with no problems! also the card is very quiet.

i recommend getting this card simply because at DEll it is just a $130 approx upgrade from a MX420.
