I need help guys.

I upgraded my video card to Geforce4 MX440 128 MB DDR w/ TVout video card from Geforce2 MX 200 64MB and tried running NBALive 2003 (medium settings) in a P3 800MHz overclocked to 900MHz on a slot 1 Tomato board with 384 MB SDRAM under WinXP professional with DirectX 9.0.
But the PC hangs in the middle of the game. Before the upgrade, it was running OK. I already downloaded the latest drivers from the NVidia website and it still doesnt work.

I know its a sin not consulting "Tom" before buying any PC hardware but I'm already in this [-peep-].

Can you help me guys in figuring out what's wrong here? Thanks a lot.

The PSU doesnt matter, It's an mx 440. I;ve run mine even using a 200 W psu.

<font color=blue>And now for some feedback for the above post: EEEEEEEEEEWWWWW  </font color=blue><font color=red><b><i>Jay Kay</font color=red></b></i>

Hang in the middle of the game? That means you can run the game but just that it's unstable... try reducing your clock speed a little which can also affect the AGP bus speed.

how much ventilation does your case have? the mx440 probably runs alot hotter than yoru mx200

btw why would you buy a mX440? you do realize its only a GF2TI right? lol you can get way better cards for less money.. but anyways

try what everyone else says as well. most importantly would be putting yor fsb back to normal cause boot is right, it does affect the agp bus when you overlcock

Im still observing my pc after setting the CPU clock to normal freq of 800MHz. I also removed half of the casing and used an electric fan for ventilation.

I got a problem with my Harddrive so I have to reinstall the WinXP OS. I'll post some observations tom.

Thanks again for your help.

The PSU DOES matter, actually. Just because a 200 watter works on one rig does NOT mean it will work on another.

An MX440 will definitely use more juice than an MX200 because of the higher clock and memory speeds.

With a P3 at almost 1 Ghz, you should have at least a 300 watter. Might as well get a 350 in case you plan to upgrade.

Well speaking from personal experiences. I have a P4 2.4b with Asus p4t533C and 3 optical drives. I ran this rig for th first 4 months without hitches with a 250W "generic" PSU but i have now upgraded just because the 250w was needed for an older puter. But maybe you're right. But i dont think it should matter much. Heating might be a problem. I have seen the HS on my mx440 go pretty hot when playing games so i installed a small 40mm fan on it just to be safe and now the HS is always cool, even with overclocks.

<font color=blue>If you can read this then it's time to move on to the next post  </font color=blue><font color=red><b><i>Jay Kay</font color=red></b></i>
