Ugh. I don't get it. I don't like it. My score isn't that good. No, scratch that it's friggin terrible. I mean for a 9800 pro shouldn't I be seeing better results than 12,200?

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'll list my PC specs to the best of my knowledge.

CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2400+ running @ 2.0GHz
Motherboard: ECS K7S5A Socket A (4X AGP)
Memory: 768MB pc2100 DDR Ram
Video: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro w/128MB
Hard Disk: Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM 8MB cache
Other: DVD-ROM, 52X CDRW, Cable internet

I ordered a nForce2 motherboard (A7N8X Deluxe) and will be adding an extra stick of 256 memory. Which on monday would bring my total memory to 1gb. I don't have any overclocking going on, nor do I want to. Is the fact that I have a 8X agp card running on a 4x agp board have much to do with it? I mean, don't get me wrong the card works fine. And my games look great but I don't get why 9700 pro's are out scoring me. Is ECS really crappy for motherboards. PLEASE BE HONEST. Hold nothing back.

Well, we both know ECS motherboards suck, I'm using one too.
I have the same setup as you, but with a 2100+ and a 9500pro.
Your 3DMark score is only 500 points higher then mine, so I'd say somethin's screwy. You should use 3DMark03 instead of 01. Also, in your mobo's bios, set your memory timings to Ultra, and cas 2.

3DMark 03 = 4,101

Well, I used 3DMark03 and I got a score of 5,300. (is that good or bad score?) I'm planning to get a Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard on monday. and add a 256 stick of ddr to make my ram 1GB. Will the new mobo help much? And is my agp bus speed (4X) holding my score back?

What is your current memory config? Cuz with that MB (A7N8X) you'll want 2 (equal) sticks to use the dual channel DDR. ie. 2x256 or 2x512.

And the is no noticable difference between 4x and 8x. The current cards/games can't even fully use the 4x yet, so it is mostly a marketing gimick.

I would think it has to be your poor mobo. If you had a spare $100 you could buy a nice nforce2 mobo and use your current processor and RAM. Im pretty sure that would put you easily into the 14,000's

Oh yes 5300 in 2k3 is a lovely score. Usually I would associate that in 2k1 se at about 18000 min. Sounds like a driver glitch. Try to redo the Cat. By the way your mobo has hit #1 alltime best seller, and with the "pro revision" is coming close to doubling #2.
BTW the dual channel is suposed to work if the 512 stick is double sided and in slot 3 while the 256 is single sided. The real gain only comes at 166 fsb though. If you had pc2700 I would recomend fsb 166 and mult of 12 if you didn't want to oc.

I have no clue what that means, lol. I really need to catch up on current tchnology. Ugh. Well, my memory configuration is going to be. 2X256 pc2100 ddr, 1X512 pc2700 ddr. I was told the pc 2700 will simply underclock to match the speed of my slower ram. And so far I havent had any problems with mixing 1 stick of the pc2100 and 1 stick of pc2700, in the ecs mobo that is.

never mind that tard .. .he doesnt know either :p

your score is low. ive owned a K7S5A and they are not slow boards. the only draw back they have is a lack of bios options, and support for ddr333. they arent the fastests, but they sure as hell aint the slowest mobo's. ECS does make bargain basement boards, but that particular one has a decent chipset

um... asking the obvious questions.. motherboard drivers, ATI drivers etc.. have them installed ? what OS are you running, and did you close Kazaa that was running in the background before running 3dmark? (rofl ....)

erm,

I hate to say it, but I have a Geforce FX 5800 and got like 9000 points in 2001, and like 4500 in 03. I've got pretty much the same stats as that guy,
AMD 2400+ OC'd to 2200 MHz
768MB DDR 2100
80GB HD w/8mb cache
K7S5A mobo rev 1.0
Geforce FX 5800

I made sure everything was off for mine and my scores still blow. I know, I know the 5800 is a monster flop and it doesn't compair to the 9800 Pro, but I'm attoning for my stupidity by selling it on ebay. Also, I'm completely overhauling my computer by getting a A7N8X Deluxe and a gig of DDR 3200. Gotta love that duel channeling. All I have to do now is decide between the new 9800 Pro 256 or the 5900 Ultra, which I've posted a new thread about...

hmm maybe there is a connection

but Genetic Weapon got 8900 in 3dmark01 with a 2000+ and a 8500le@300/300

so your score should be alot higher. and the 5800 is a nice card. just didnt live up to the hype

man.. i dunno what to tell you. im thinking DX9 problems with 3dmark01? because i had problems with it. i had to uninstall DX9 (what a PAIN) and put DX8 back on

My OS is WIndows XP Pro. I turned everything of, including my firewall, virus protection. I updated my mobo drivers about 1 month ago. And check for ne ATI drivers yesterday. The most recent ATI drivers are the ones that came out last month on May 15th right?

ya, your 3dmark01 score is a bit low, but now 18000 min for that setup?.... how bout no. Endyn do ur research man, that sys with no ocing would never reach 18000.
Neways, 5300 is a bit low too id say. Im not sure of the cpu scaling with 3dmark03, but i have a 2700, a7n8x, and a 9800 pro and get about 5600.

HALF-LIFE 2 WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!!!

Long live ATI.
