Panasonic PV-GS19 not recognized by Windows 7 64 bit

Hello,
I have a Panasonic PV-GS19 and a new laptop running Windows 7. Laptop does not have a Firewire port. Computer will not recognize the camera at all.Do I need to throw the camera away? Only used it several times!!
