hi, am new to this, so bear with me plz.Have a 2.4a (just purchased 2 weeks ago----upgraded from p2 350!!!)anyway, also purchased a sapphire 9700np along with it. everything installed ok, win xp,40g hd,ddr333 mem, and all the other basic stuff.(psu=350w). Now, my question is,why does this card score only 3786 on 3d mark. I have the latest drivers=cats 3.4, dx9. My friend has one and it scored 4430 out of the box.(He has a P2.2ghz.), most all our stuff is the same, except the processors. Both have fresh clean install,so why the huge difference??

(the price was right on the proc=$175.can-------and for now with all the really good stuff coming out----it,ll do for a couple months)

It sounds like its kinda low, do you have vsync turned off?
I get close to 5000 3dmarks 03 on my Athlon 2700+ system with a 9700np also on cat 3.4

Hmmm, wonder if I can get a valid page fault ???
these invalid ones are far too commonplace...

As long as it is withing 1000 thats ok. Really It could be your mother board and its chipset having a slower respons issue with this card than your buudies card. Could Also be he got ram that is more quiet than yours. Could also be, god it is a matter of the quality of your other parts. He could also have oc the AGP card too. Maybe the software you installed is having an effect on sys resources. But really it is not an exact science, just that is how the cards are dealt. There is no such thing as 2 identical computers even though the parts are the same. Something in your system did not score well on one of the tests. But really try running a game and measure the FPS on both to see wat happends. The TRUE performance of a machine is determined by BOTH the quality of the parts and how well the software is organized.
