Need help to transfer my copy of windows from one HDD to another...

hi.

i have a 250gb SATA 4800rpm HDD. i just bought a 1TB 7200 HDD. now i want to tranfer my copy of windows from my old hdd to the new one. i'm not really willing to install a fresh copy of windows...any help would be wolcome

p.s. i'm a novice at pc stuffs. so a detailed walkthrough would be welcome

You can do this with the tools built into Windows as long as you have a spare drive. Use Start -> All Programs -> Maintenance -> Backup and Restore to make a "System Image Backup" of your existing system to an external drive, and also make a "Recovery DVD".

Then attach the new drive, boot from the recovery DVD, and restore the backup to the new drive.
