Hi all,

I just bought a Palm LifeDrive and think it's nearly the best thing since sliced
bread, particularly compared to my old Palm Tungsten T|T with faulty digitizer
and 5-way nav button.

I really like the photo and video viewing program and the way you just drop the
files into the manager program on the PC to convert them to a suitable format.
It would be nicer if it converted the images to 480x320 instead of 640x480
though - perhaps that's a user preference I haven't found yet.

I'm also loving the wifi and ability to surf the web without having to turn on
the desktop PC to look up a phone number, weather forecast, TV guide, etc.

Are there any essential or simply cool programs that you would recommend for the
LifeDrive? I've downloaded SharkCache to help with the microdrive lag based on
some good reviews.

Thanks for your comments.

Ben

Well, I can't really disagree. Being a bread lover, I find sliced bread to be
the stupidest Yankee invention ever. Almost as bad as the drive-up window.

If you like sliced bread then you will also like the LifeDrive. Otherwise...

Perhaps this is for compatibility with the next LifeDrive model that
Palm(One) releases? Thought if Palm did release a PDA with that
resolution, it would make compatibility with older software more complex.

It was a time of great turmoil. The strong preyed on the weak, dogs
and cats lived together. One voice cried out in the wilderness: Ben

The Core Pocket Multimedia Player (TCPMP) -- hands down the best video
player available for the PalmOS. It's ten times better for video than
the LD's built-in media player. It plays a wide variety of video
formats including MP4 (DiVX and XViD .avi files).

ZLauncher -- a great improvement over the default launcher with an
integrated file manager. Even if you don't like it as a launcher, it
allows you to create shortcuts to programs on the LD's hard drive
which can be used by any launcher.

McPhling -- pops up a list of frequently used and favorite
applications which shows up with a preset stroke or with the d-pad.

PalmFiction -- a great e-book reader which reads a wide variety of
formats.

TomeRaider -- another e-book reader which can read some really
gigantic files. Have you ever wished to have instant access to the CIA
World Factbook or the Wikipedia online encyclopedia. Well they're both
available in TomeRaider formats, weighing in at a size of 19 and 540
MBs respectively.
