Power Color 9700 Pro not good?

I read the other thread about the 9700np - do PowerColor really use lower clockspeeds and use lower grade quality materials? :/ SO I'd be better of with a 9700 Pro from another company?

Thanks.

I looked into them a while back, maybe 4 months ago, and it seems that they use slower memory. Just make sure you get the correct speed memory with whatever card you buy. There are others that also use slower memory but some have decided to call it a GOLD card at least.

I have a powercolor R9700pro and it looks exactly like a refrence ATI board. It runs wonderfully.
I havnt overclocked it yet, but tonight i may try to test out the limits of the ram.
Even if it doesnt overclock all that great im still very happy with it. Was 50 ausbux cheaper than any other R9700pro.

Ok thanks very much, I'll be buying it soon, then upgrading my cpu later.

This board and site has been really helpful in that it's shown me the best graphics card I can get for my price range - so thanks everyone. ;)

I've seen a good review of the PowerColor card too - I wonder if tomshardware will ever do one (doubt it because a line-up has already been done.)

As far as overclocking goes it seems to be just like a normal R9700pro.
Got the memory up to 330 so far, but according to the reviews ive read the standard 2.8ns DDR cant get much higher.

325/325 core/mem asynch is a good speed :)

ill push it a little bit till i start to see artefacts, but im happy with what i have at the moment :)

I got a PowerColor 9700 pro from OCSystem.com the other day and found that is is already voltmodded. I had to RMA the previous PC 9700 pro that I got from them, but it was voltmodded also. Are they voltmodded from the factory?

strange... how does one find out if ones card is voltmodded or not?

Look at the surface of the card. There are various voltage controllers on the chip. If there are resistors soldered between the pins, it has been voltmodded. Go to www.xbitlabs.com and look for the 9700 pro extreme overclocking experience for pictures.

I cant remember seeing any on my card when i checked it for damage, but i wasnt specifically looking for things like that.
Ill check when i get home.
