The 5800 Ultra is as loud as a small orchestra. So for the extra money you get a lot more noise.

I would recommend waiting a few weeks for the 5900 if you are considering the 5800. The 5800 has heat problems, a very noisy cooling system, and a narrow 128-bit memory bus. The 5900 has 256-bit memory bus, runs cooler, and is much quieter. The 5900 is also faster.

Since when is a product of the same number but with an Ultra to it, a way to add a higher price tag?
There is ALWAYS something. Here it's higher clock speeds.

If you are talking about the 5800's its the clock speed.. If you are talking about the 5900's 5900=128 meg of ram, 5900 Ultra=256 meg of ram. Good luck.

I pretty much just bought a Chaintech 4200 some special edition while I wait for the 5900 not only to come out- but drop in price also. I almost bought the 5800 for right now but I wasn't sure why the Ultra made it 'better' so said forget that for now. I knew the 5900 was the ram but I personally think the 5900 + 5900U is going to really be a little difference but thanks for clearing up the smoke.

Be prepared to wait a while... I aint seen any 5900's here in Oz yet, and top of the line units stay costly fore quite some time, unless the competition is better by a big degree.

I am thinking of limiting my budget to about $400 if they catch me and I am feeling froggy- but I really think ATI will counter-strike with something to compete a lot better than what they have now- just a matter of time. Anyway- there isn't enough games out there now to really get me going in my opinion- even though the games DX9.0 do look really good.
