2x 4x 8x agp help

got a deal on asylum ti 4200 128mg today for 99.00. got it
home and sticker on card says 8x agp but nowhere on box.
i have old board abit bx6 rev.2.o. it only supports 1x 2x agp.i know 8x is only backwards compatible with 4x. is any ti4200 compatible with 2x agp. geforce 2 pro burn't so i
need new one running on voodoo banshee right now.

If you run a modern video card, you are also going to need to change out your power supply also.. 250 probably wont be able to get the job done. Good luck.

Yes, that card will work with YOUR board. We know that AGP8x cards are backwards compatable because Tom's tested the Radeon 9700 Pro on boards older than yours, even old Super 7 boards!

There are a bunch of guys who will lie to you about this. The reason is, they probably have it on their mind to convince you to buy a new platform.

Oh, did you know you can run a Celeron 1100 Tualatin at 1466MHz on your board, using a $20 adapter? Yep, you can keep that baby reasonably up to speed for some time yet.

Oh, your power supply could be a problem. I recommend a Fortron 350W power supply from Newegg.com for $32.

the Celeron T is a strangly fast CPU. its a P3 at 1ghz++ on a 100mzn fsb.

Yes, the only thing you have to do to make one perform VERY well is raise the bus speed (to get the memory transfer rate up). This is why I tell people to get a Tualatin Celeron 1100 and overclock to 1466, rather than get a 1400.
