Geforce 2 GTS - problem with speed

Hi, I'm trying drivers now for my Geforce 2 GTS (MSI MS-8820). I tried almost all the drivers on msi's site, and four from Nvidia.

I noticed that my original driver (default Windows XP or sump.) was stable, but oddly slow in 3ds Max and other software as well. So I tried all the newer drivers mentioned, from 2003 to 2001, but all of them will crash Max doing some editing. The new drivers are really 2x,4x faster for 3d viewports, but they crash Max or Windows quickly. How should I fix this?

You should go with older drivers! All the drivers past something like 21.xxx aren't really made for that card, they should work but they offer no new performance features and can cause instability.

In fact, the 14.xxx series might be better.
