Here's a few I like.

__________ 2B
Instant

Search your deck for a card. Then shuffle your deck and put the chosen
card on top of it.

__________ 4GG
Sorcery

Search your deck for up to four basic land
cards, reveal them and put them into your hand. Reshuffle your deck
afterwards.

__________ 2R
Sorcery

Search your deck for a card and put it into your hand. Then your
opponent searches your deck for five cards and removes them from the
game. Reshuffle your deck afterwards.

_________ 4BB
Instant

Remove ________ from the game. Search your library for two cards and put
them into your hand. Reshuffle your deck afterwards.

Sounds like Vampiric Tutor. To wit:

Vampiric Tutor
B
Instant
Search your library for a card, then shuffle your library and put that card
on top of it. You lose 2 life.

I think to make it so you don't lose life, it would probably cost two mana -
either BB or B1.

Hmm.. by the time Green gets to GG4, it generally doesn't need more lands;
it's already ready to win the game if it hasn't already. What about
something more like Harrow?

Harrow
2G
Instant
As an additional cost to play Harrow, sacrifice a land.
Search your library for up to two basic land cards and put them into play.
Then shuffle your library.

So then maybe a double-strength version?

Mana Searcher
3GG
Instant
As an additional cost to play Mana Searcher, sacrifice two lands.
Search your library for up to four basic lands and put them into play
tapped, then shuffle your library.

... Maybe?

Hmm.. A little too lopsided for me. I think I'd more like:

Mental Synapses
2R
Sorcery
Search your library for a card, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Target
opponent searches your library for a card that shares a card type with the
revealed card, and removes it from the game. Then shuffle your library.

A bit strong as is, even with the RFG built in. How about:

Demonic Teachings
4BB
Instant
Remove Demonic Teachings from the game.
Search your library for two cards, and put them into your hand, then shuffle
your library. You lose half your life.

Although for that kind of mana, you could probably draw four or five cards
in black, and only lose as much life as cards you draw. :)

Nah... seems really good to me. That's because I created it to combo
with Seismic Assault.

And your version of 2R Tutor? Waaaay to powerful. Just as good as
Demonic Tutor really.

How about this one.

_Bad_Tutor___ R
Sorcery

Each players searches their library for a card and puts it into his or
her hand. Then they reshuffle their decks. Immediately tap all your
lands, creatures and artifacts. End the turn.

How so? You get the card you want, and you lose a card you may have needed
to get it. Plus, everyone knows what you're looking for and can remove another
combo part. If you must make it worse, let the opponent take any card they
want.

I get Aluren ... they can take Intruder Alarm
I get one Cloudpost ... they can take another
I get Nomads en-Kor ... they take Task Force
I get Arcbound Ravager ... They can take any artifact that might help you.
Etc ...

Hmm ... it might be good in a non-combo deck though. But they do get to remove
another potential answer.

Demonic Tutor is 2 mana, one card, no revealing.

Hmm ... that makes me want to play a modified Tooth and Nail. Attack with
my fatties, and fetch a Volcanic Geyser to kill you with at my leisure.

But I do like "End the turn".

I like the idea of something like this ...

Burst of Inspiration
3UB
Instant
Search your library for a card and put it in your hand. Shuffle your library
afterwards.

Probably overpowered, but it could be fun.

Shared education, sorcery, 1BBB, each player may search their deck for a
card, reveal it and put it in their hand, "You're not the only smart one."

....And Vampiric Tutor is widely regarded as the second-best tutor ever
printed. The power level of this card puts it right between Vampiric Tutor
and Demonic Tutor. However, Demonic Tutor has been "fixed" in recent sets to
cost 2BB (in Diabolic Tutor). It is also a Sorcery, not an Instant (which,
historically, has made cards cost 1-2 extra, depending on the ability). I'd
say that the final casting cost of this card would almost certainly have to
be 1BB. It effectively trades 1 mana for not putting the card directly into
your hand (when compared to Diabolic Tutor), and can be cast as an Instant
(read: "at the end of your turn, I'll cast ~"). This, IMO, would see more
play than Diabolic Tutor does now, but nowhere near as much as Demonic, and
probably significantly less than Vampiric as well. Which, since they're both
restricted (or "extremely powerful in the right circumstances"), is probably
a good thing.

Briscobar... really good tutor if you ask me.

_________ 1BB
Instant

Search your library for a card, reshuffle your library and put the card
on top of it.

Here's another one.

________ 3BB
Sorcery

You may remove a black card in your hand from the game and pay 5 life
instead of paying ________'s casting cost.

Search your library for a card and put it into your hand. Then reshuffle
your library.

I don't see a problem with this. Without the "pitch" ability, it's a
strictly worse Diabolic Tutor. Raising the casting cost encourages use of
the alternative cost, which is a bit steep. I think this is quite fair. To
be honest, I probably wouldn't play it, but as far as the cost and mechanics
are concerned, it seems rather balanced. Good one.

Yah, but the alternate cost is nifty because with Diabolic Tutor,
it's expensive enough that you'll probably have to wait until
next turn to cast what you got. With *this*, if you pay the
alterate cost, you can pull it and then play it. It's properly
costed, 'cause the alternate cost is steep, but it's neat.

Each player may search their library for a card of their choice, put it
into their hand and then reshuffle their decks.

Yunalasc, the Feared 3BB Legendary
Creature- Human Wizard

Pay 2 life: Regenerate.

4/4

Yunalasc's Summoning 3BB

If you control an untapped creature named Yunalasc, the Feared, you may
tap it instead of paying Yunalasc's Summoning's casting cost.

Search your library for a card. Put it into your hand. Then reshuffle
your library afterwards.

Which is funny because if you had some education, you'd realize it's
"his/her" deck/hand not "their" which is plural.

Tchk. Magic templating uses "his or her". English also accepts the 'singular
plural' of 'their' for this in cases where you do not want to be forced to
specify a possibly incorrect gender, and do not want to be forced to use "its"
and deny the existence of a gender.
