I'm an avid researcher and so usually don't post, but I can't find the info and need some advice, I thought this forum might be the place to post - I did see some hardware questions in the past - sorry if I'm in the wrong place...
I have a decent video editing system I just put togethor, but I need a replacement (or two) for my tiny 15" monitor. I want a 19" and have been around the forums/articles and found that there are a few usual suspects for high quality monitors, but they're pricey and I'm not really sure I need those specs.
If I can get away with a lower refresh (read cheaper monitor) I would MUCH rather have a two monitor system now. (Instead of waiting until I can afford a second monitor.) I never play games but I can be on the computer 8+ hours a day and want something easy on the eyes.
If you do video editing for a living or if your output videos are mainly to be viewed on a computer monitor, then you should consider a good 19" CRT monitor. On the other hand, if you want something easy on the eyes, then LCD montior is the way to go. Make sure the LCD has a response time of less than 30ms to avoid ghosting. Both solutions are not cheap though.
As for which brand and model to get, sorry that I don't know much. I suggest you ask the guys in the CRT Monitors or Flat Panels forum. You should be able to receive more help there.
