I am on the market for a new video card (I just sold my Radeon 9700 pro for money reasons)....I am on a budget of course and I am leaning toward the geforce4 ti4200....my question is who makes the best one for the money (it must have svideo out)....I have seen different clock frequencies on several cards I have looked at....I just want to make an informed purchase instead of an impulse buy. Thanks!

For the money, the best card you can get right now is the Radeon 9700 non-pro for $200 online.

If you want to pay less than that, your best bet is the 9500 PRO for around $160.

If you want even cheaper, your best bet is probably the Geforce4 Ti you're considering.

Ditto.

And more than 64 MB VRAM is unnecessary for a GeForce4 Ti card.

I think the best one for the money would be the Abit Siluro ($89.00 at Newegg).I agree with the others though,If you can, Go with the 9500Pro.

Well, when i upgraded my card i spent many an hour reading...reading...reading... as always ATI whoops Nvidia's......anyway, check out guru3d.com they specialize on video cards. of the ti's the Compro Poladyne Ti-4200 OC was best. (newegg didnt have it tho) so second best was my choice, and i went with the gainward ti-4200 Golden Sample (Golden sample is key, they unlock the card for OCing and put faster mem in) it scored a 10414 in Enhanced mode on 3DMark2001 and a 10514 (or something close) when i fiddled with the clock speeds. not bad for a ti-4200....and 159.00

only reason i didnt get an ATI was for the money i didnt want the all in wonder...id rather have $160 of video card, not tv tuner AND video card. so i guess i have a Q as well...are the all in wonders worth it? or do you just pay more for more stuff on the card? i doubt its free ya kno.

btw, the gainward has vivo...

good luck! and check out guru3d...

All the all-in-wonders add is the capability to take a cable signal and watch it on your computer, as well as capture video.
The all-in-wonders probably aren't worth it because you can just buy a TV-wonder card separately and pay the same or less.

But you don't need an all-in-wonder for S-video out. Every normal Radeon has S-video out nowadays.

I got a PNY Verto GeForce 4 Ti 4200 with no problems. It has a good heatsink and good ramsinks. I was able to overclock from 250/514 to 270/555 without a problem. If you want to see my benchmark scores go to my site.http://www16.brinkster.com/davemar14/main
